01Do I see the pay up front in the app?
Review the pay information available with the vacancy. Check whether it is a fixed amount or range, hourly or monthly, and which hours and benefits apply. Ask the employer about missing details before proceeding. A displayed figure is not yet a personal pay agreement.
02Why does clear pay information matter?
Clear pay information helps you judge whether a job fits your expectations. Compare hours, shifts, premiums and benefits as well as the amount. Werkvolk encourages employers to be specific about conditions; discuss missing or unclear information directly with the employer.
03What is a pay range and why is a range shown?
A pay range gives a lower and upper amount, for example 16 to 19 euros per hour. The eventual offer can depend on experience, responsibilities and working conditions. Ask which criteria the employer uses. The highest displayed amount is not automatically your offer.
04What is the difference between gross and net pay?
Gross pay is your pay before tax and social security contributions. Net pay is what actually reaches your account. Vacancies usually show the gross amount, because the net depends on your personal situation: your household, your seniority and any benefits.
05Do I get extra benefits such as meal vouchers?
That varies per employer and per vacancy. Meal vouchers, eco vouchers, hospitalisation insurance, group insurance or a bike allowance are all common. What is included is stated on the vacancy itself, so you can compare two jobs fairly.
06How is shift work or night work paid?
Shift or night work may involve different pay conditions or premiums, depending on the applicable agreements and role. Ask whether a quoted amount is basic pay or already includes premiums, and which hours they apply to. This helps you compare the same components.
07Is my commute reimbursed?
Ask the employer which arrangement applies to your transport and work situation. Reimbursement and travel time are different things: Werkvolk travel information does not specify which costs are reimbursed. Also discuss accessibility at the hours you would work.
08Can I negotiate my pay?
Yes. The vacancy shows what the employer wants to pay, but a conversation is still a conversation. Because you chat directly, you can put your experience and your certificates on the table yourself instead of having a middleman do it for you.
09Where can I see what a particular job typically pays?
The salary pages by occupation provide indications and factors that can affect pay. Use them to prepare questions, not as guaranteed pay or a personal offer. For a specific job, check the vacancy, the employer’s explanation and the final contractual terms.
