What will you do?
You set up the site, prepare the work, build the scaffold to plan and take it apart again safely when the job is done. You work at height every day and always follow strict safety rules, because other trades depend on the structure you put up. The job is also known as scaffold fitter, scaffolding assembler or scaffold erector, and in Belgium reliable scaffolders are needed on almost every larger construction site.

Your foundation for this occupation
Spatial awareness, measurement and assembly drawings are foundations. Learn component identification and the sequence of assembly.
From preparation to your first day
Develop the practical skills
Support a crew with component checks, setting-out and assembly to the specified system. Practise clear communication when passing and positioning components.
Check your work
Check connections, platforms, access and edge protection against the work instruction. Report deviations before the scaffold is released for use.
How can you grow?
Industrial scaffolding and complex facades offer specialisation. Crew leadership adds planning, material calculation and handover to users.
Frequently asked questions
Are all scaffolds assembled alike?
No. System scaffolds, mobile towers and tube-and-coupler scaffolds have different components and layouts. Experience with one system does not replace instruction for another.
